Updating TrackFast Tracking Software
If you want to update the version of TrackFast tracking software on your device but would like to keep your existing Tracks and Keywords databases, follow these steps:
- Unzip the new version of the TrackFast.zip file to a convenient folder on your computer's hard disk. View the release notes in this folder for the latest information about the version. Check the About TrackFast menu option on your device and compare to the Version History section of the release notes to make certain you don't already have this or a later version. The Version History is shown with the latest version at the top.
- Perform a HotSync operation with your desktop computer to make certain your databases are backed up.
- Browse to the directory where you unzipped the new version of TrackFast. Double click on the TrackFast.prc file, select your device User Name, click OK. Click Done and then click OK to the confirmation dialog.
- Perform a HotSync operation with your desktop computer to install the new version of TrackFast.
Version History
Version 1.3b1 - March 26, 1999
- Added the much requested Save To Memo feature. You can now save Entries to a Palm Memo Pad item and then create and print reports on your desktop PC. Just open a Track to display the Entries view and tap Menu | Entries | Save To Memo. Use the dialog to select a date range and category of the Entries you want to save. The default settings in this dialog will select all of the Entries in the Track. If more than 4096 characters (the maximum memo size) are needed to store the Entries, multiple memos are created. After synchronization, open the Palm Desktop application, right-click on the memo and select Copy. Now open your favorite spreadsheet or word processing program and click Edit | Paste to save the Entries in a document. The Entries are stored in tab-delimited format to preserve fields. The Track title is posted in the first row of the memo and both the Track title and Entry text fields are placed inside double quotes. Dates and times are saved in the format selected in the Palm Preferences Formats panel.
- Added a Purge Entries feature. This allows you to selectively purge multiple Entries from a Track. It can be used to conserve memory after saving Entries to a memo item and storing them on your desktop PC. Use the same date range and category options as the Save Entries to Memo dialog to select which Entries to purge. The default settings in this dialog will select all of the Entries in the Track.
- Added support for launching the popular DateBk3 application from Pimlico Software when following links to Date Book items. Enable this feature by tapping Menu | Preferences in the Tracks view and selecting the Use Datebk3 for links checkbox.
- Added support for upper case characters in keywords. You can now enter multi-word proper nouns and acronyms to your keyword database.
- Fixed a bug introduced in v1.2b3 that can cause Tracks to look like they've disappeared after doing a Find from within the Entries view and selecting the last Track. The Tracks reappear after adding several new Tracks. The problem was related to calculating scroll position and only occurs if there are fewer than 12 total Tracks.
Version 1.2b3 - March 19, 1999
- Added support for the Palm Find function. Use the built-in Find feature in the Palm Connected Organizer to search for matching text in Track titles and Entries and jump to the appropriate Entries view or Edit Entry view to display a matching item.
- Displays all dates and times according to the format selected in the Palm Preferences Formats panel. Text in the Entries view is in the same column regardless of the length and format of the date.
- Enhanced navigation and organization of Tracks, Links, and Entries. Menu commands have been provided to move the position of Tracks and Links within their respective lists. Added Go To Top and Go To Bottom menu commands to help navigation in the Tracks view. Added Latest (top) and Earliest (bottom) selections for the Go To Date popup in the Entries view.
- Added support for closing a Track by tapping the down-arrow icon to the left of the Track title in the Entries view. Existing Links for the Track can also be viewed and modified by tapping the Links icon to the right of the Track title.
- Added the Duplicate menu command in the Edit Entry view to create a duplicate of an existing Entry. The new Entry has the date set to the current day and time set to none, but the category, Entry text and all Links to other Palm Application items are duplicated. This makes it easy to create a new Entry that matches an existing Entry, such as a recurring appointment or phone call, and then set the date, start/stop time, and add any additional information needed.
Version 1.1b2 - March 3, 1999
- Enhancements added to viewing and adding links to Palm Date Book items. This version has separate views of repeating and non-repeating events and displays repeating events with the event interval (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) using a letter in brackets, i.e. [d], [w], etc.
- Initial display of Palm Date Book items in the Add Link view are automatically scrolled to today's date. New selections added to the Go To Date popup list include Latest (top), which scrolls to the latest-dated item in the Date Book, and Earliest (bottom), which scrolls to the earliest-dated item in the Date Book.
- Properly displays the description of Palm Date Book items that have an attached note or exceptions. Previous versions displayed some garbage characters or the note text rather than the description.
- Enhancements made to allow TrackFast to work with Popup Note. In previous versions, Popup Note couldn't open the Palm Memo Pad database for writing while TrackFast was running. In this version, TrackFast only opens the Memo Pad database in the Links and Add Link views. In all other views, Popup Note is able to add a new memo.
Version 1.0b5 - February 27, 1999
- Fixes a memory error caused by exiting TrackFast while in the Entries view of a Track by tapping the Application icon, then re-launching TrackFast to display the Entries view again, tapping the Done button, and then attempting to create a new Track. An "invalid handle" memory error results and a device reset required.
